One of my favorite quotes comes from Dune,
"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
A person whose nature is still primarily animalistic/immature recoils from pain and seeks to flee it to preserve itself, a person of higher nature/thinking goes through it and out the other side in order to remove the threat permanently.
About Me
I was born in Kansas City, MO, but I enjoy travel and have lived in the South (MS, TN, AL) and Hawaii before moving to the Denver, CO area. I have been teaching students with disabilities for a decade and plan to teach at least another decade. I am passionate about everyone having what they need to succeed and inspiring self-directed learners.
