Gateway High School, in Aurora Public Schools District 28J, is a public, comprehensive high school with an enrollment of approximately 1,550 students in grades nine through twelve. Our demographic breakdown is as follows: Hispanic- 56.1%; White 12.5%; Black or African- American 21.1%; Asian- 4.1%; American Indian- 0.8%; Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander- 0.8%; 2 or more races 4.6%.
Courses are comprehensive, ranging in scope from college preparatory to honors or advanced placement. Concurrent with classes at the home high school, students can attend the District’s career/technical school, participate in the ProStart culinary arts program or earn an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in cooperation with the Community College of Aurora.
We prepare students to be willing to try new things, hear and consider new ideas, and understand perspectives from a variety of cultural lenses.
