About Us
The Promethean Journal is a hybrid club (Meeting online and in-person), focused on collecting, editing, and publishing student work to create a literary journal to share with the school community. All types of literature and visual art are welcome for submission, in any language. Throughout the year we release a themed collection of student created art and literature (thematically related to the current season and/or nearby holidays or events).
Benefits of Participating
The Promethean Journal will be an opportunity for Gateway High School students to express their creativity and pursue their cultural interests by contributing to the publication of a literary journal. It will enable students to see themselves reflected positively in a published medium, and help to develop the literacy and artistic skills of Gateway students. The Journal will be produced, edited and published by Gateway students with guidance from its faculty sponsors. The leadership structure will be determined by nominations and volunteers from the club members. Students will assume the roles of assignment editors, copy editors, photo editors, layout/design editors, content contributors and others as needed. The Journal will publish a wide range of content produced by our students, including but not limited to: Poetry, Short fiction, Visual Arts, Essays, Journalism (profiles of students who do interesting things in the arts, sports, academics, etc., or other articles on the cultural life at Gateway) Cultural criticism (reviews of music, movies, plays, etc.) Photo essays, and short videos
