I love teaching at Gateway because I love being a part of our resilient, diverse, and creative community.
My name is Marty Wittmer and this is my seventh year at Gateway High School as a social studies teacher. I am originally from Fort Collins, and have lived in Colorado my whole life. I graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins in 2006. I attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and graduated Magna Cum Lade in December of 2010 with my BA in History and Secondary Education. I then substitute taught and coached track in Poudre School District in Fort Collins for a year before taking my first full time teaching job in Kiowa, Colorado in 2012. I was very pleased to join the Gateway High School staff in 2013, and I love it here. My background and academic interests are in skills based learning, world history, religion, and geography. In addition, I am currently pursuing my MS in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in teacher leadership at CSU Global. Outside of the classroom I am an advisor for the Gateway Delegation to the Colorado Youth in Government program, and the head coach of the Gateway High School Track & Field team. In my free time I love to travel, and will always take any opportunity to do so. I also love hiking, skiing, running, and generally being outside.
