Honors US History

Students cover the broad scope of U.S. history, assessing historical materials analytically and critically, determining their relevance to a given problem, their reliability and importance, and weighing historical evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship. Students will learn to construct effective persuasive essays and develop the writing and thinking skills required for first-rate history writing. Advanced reading and writing skills are necessary, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to homework and study (particularly reading regularly and daily). The focus is on the student developing the skills and knowledge to function as a historian.
