I love sharing my passion for history and the social sciences. My goal is too instill this love for learning into my students, and hopefully they will leave high school with an appreciation for these subjects, making them better informed and more knowledgeable citizens equipped with strong critical thinking skills.
About Me
I was born in raised in Aurora. My dad and uncle were both Aurora Firefighters for 30 years, so I grew up with a strong sense of commitment and loyalty to this community. After college, I moved back to teach here in my hometown. I was hired at East Middle School in 2009 and have spent the last 16.5 years there teaching social studies and coaching basketball. This year, after finishing my Master's in history, I begin looking to move to a high school where I can flex this degree a bit and hopefully teach some of the college level history courses. I grew up playing basketball at Gateway, and this has always been a school I've wanted to be at! Outside of teaching, I'm a big snowboarder and mountain biker. I still play a ton of basketball, and I'm an avid reader of all things history and social science. I grew up playing bass guitar and played in several different bands for many years -- I'm still very passionate about music.
