of first-generation, low-income AVID college students graduate with a four-year degree within six years
“Before I was in AVID I was having a hard time navigating life as a high school student. One of the biggest things I struggled with was knowing how the college process worked. Being a first-generation American is hard enough, but then you add on being the first person in your family to graduate high school and go to college and things start to get frustrating. Joining AVID allowed me to have a place where I could ask for help and get a better understanding of how even applying for college works. This not only helped me, but my family as well.
In the fall of 2020 I will be attending CU Boulder. AVID prepared me by giving me a head start on college applications and scholarships, and I am so grateful that I was able to be ahead of the game.”
