Mr. Scott Fiske Named Gateway High School Principal

Mr. Scott Fiske Named Gateway High School Principal

Gateway Community,

On behalf of the Gateway Principal Selection Interview Committee and Superintendent Munn, it is with great pleasure that I announce that Mr. Scott Fiske will be the new principal of Gateway High School. He will begin his new role at our school on Wednesday, January 19.

Mr. Fiske brings more than 30 years of experience in education including time as a math teacher, assistant principal and principal. He spent the past 19 years as a high school principal in Broward County Schools in Florida where he was named ‘Principal of The Year’ in 2008.

We are excited to bring his many years of leadership to Gateway High School, which we recognize is facing a unique set of challenges. In hiring Mr. Fiske, we value the depth of his experience as a turnaround leader and as a leader who has faced adversity in a difficult political climate. He has built confidence among a diverse community that has seen district leadership turnover, school violence and allegations of asset mismanagement. Mr. Fiske has met all of these challenges while still continuing to raise the academic achievement of his school. We strongly value his experience navigating these complex issues while continuously improving a large comprehensive high school. We expect he will bring this same unwavering commitment to our Gateway community.

Mr. Fiske has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Miami, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University and is set to complete his doctoral degree in Organizational Learning from Barry University later this year.

I would like to thank our students, parents and staff members for the input they provided throughout the different stages of the selection process. I would also like to thank the Alma Advisory Group for their work in facilitating this community engagement and for leading a thorough national search and selection process.

Mr. Fiske is a collaborative and strategic leader with a dedication to the success of students and staff. We are excited to welcome him to Gateway and Aurora Public Schools.

Sincerely,

Carole Jennings
Learning Community Director / Interim Principal
