Gateway High School Parents and Guardians,

I am excited to announce that we will have an in-person graduation ceremony on Monday, July 20, 2020 at 7:00 pm at the Aurora Public School Stadium, located on the campus of Hinkley High School. To ensure everyone’s safety we ask that you adhere to the guidelines set forth and approved by Tri-County Health and The Colorado Department of Health (CDC).

  • Graduates must have a cap and gown in order to have a seat on the field. You may purchase before the ceremony. They accept cash and credit cards.
  • Gowns will be returned after the ceremony. If you wish to take pictures, please do so before the ceremony begins.
  • Graduates, please arrive by 6:00 pm
  • Each graduate will be allowed two guests each. Each guest must have a ticket to enter.  To receive tickets: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/3803284/gateway-high-school-graduation-ceremony-aurora-aurora-public-schools-stadium
  • Disclaimer to Guests: “Ticket holder expressly grants Aurora Public Schools and its licensees the right to use Holder’s image or likeness in connection with any live or recorded transmission or reproduction of such event, for any purpose, including promotional purposes, without further authorization or consideration.”  
  • Face coverings must be worn by all students, staff and guests during the ceremony.
  • All attendees must bring their own water.
  • No high heeled shoes are allowed on the field- if you come in heels you will be given a pair of flip flops to wear.
  • All safety guidelines must be followed (face coverings, social distancing and no group gatherings before or after the ceremony, etc.)
  • Parents and guests, please arrive early to cut down on bottlenecking in parking lot.,
  • Please do not bring bouquets of balloons inside the stadium, out of consideration for the people sitting around you. 
  • Guests will need to sit with the other person that their student reserved a ticket for. In other words, please sit with no more than one other person that you come with. We need to discourage mingling in the stands
  • Interpretation services will be provided at each graduation ceremony. To listen to the interpretation, you will need a phone and headphones. We will have instructions posted with the numbers to call in for interpretation on the day of the ceremony.

Our graduation ceremony will be live streamed and can be accessed through the APS website. It will also be recorded by Clarkson Creative Photography to allow family members to watch who could not attend and also to allow for viewing at a later date. Graduation programs will be put on chairs for graduates and on the seats for parents/guests.

Once the ceremony is over, please exit the stadium, find your graduate and leave the parking lot. It is important not to socialize or try to take photos after the ceremony is completed.

We are excited to celebrate our Class of 2020! Our graduation ceremony will be held:

As you prepare for graduation next week, I would like to share some important information with you.

Safety Precautions

All graduates, guests and staff members must wear a cloth face covering at all times. In order to ensure the health and safety of others, guests will be seated six feet apart from one another.  If graduates have two guests, they must sit together in pairs six feet from others in the stadium. Our graduates will also be seated six feet apart on the field. We ask that there be no congregating in crowds, hand shaking or hugging.

Hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the stadium. There will be no food served at the ceremony. Graduates and guests are responsible for bringing their own water bottle into the stadium.

Graduates

We ask that graduates arrive one hour before the ceremony (6:00 PM.) Students must be wearing their caps, gowns and cloth face coverings to be allowed into the stadium. School staff will be available to help students line up for the processional.

In order to protect the artificial turf on the field, we ask that graduates not wear high heeled shoes.

If you have not rented your cap and gown, Herff Jones will be there doing day of rentals, they will accept cash and card.

Graduates, you will be turning in your cap and gown immediately after the ceremony, so please take pictures before the ceremony.

Tickets

Due to social distancing requirements, we must limit the number of guests who can attend the ceremony. Each student can invite [2] guests to attend in person. To obtain tickets, visit https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/3803284/gateway-high-school-graduation-ceremony-aurora-aurora-public-schools-stadium

Guests can download tickets using a mobile device, print tickets at home or pick tickets up at the stadium’s call booth. If you have problems obtaining tickets, please contact the ticket office at 919-653-0444 or support@etix.com. Guests must have a ticket to enter the stadium and use the Guest Entrance only.

We ask that guests not bring large bouquets of balloons or items that might obstruct the view of others.

Parking

Parking will be available at the APS Stadium, Hinkley High School, East Middle School and on side streets surrounding the stadium. Please do not park at the Calvary Church parking lot,  which is located across the street from the stadium.

Interpretation Services

Interpretation will be provided at the ceremony. Guests who need interpretation services will need to bring a cell phone with headphones in order to listen to the ceremony in their language. We will have posted signs at the stadium with detailed instructions on how to access interpretation services.

Live Stream

We recognize that family and friends would like to join in the celebration of our students so we are hiring a professional videography company to stream and record each ceremony. To view a live stream of the graduation ceremony, visit aurorak12.org/graduations.

Mientras se preparan para la graduación de la próxima semana, quisiera compartirles cierta información que es muy importante.

Medidas de seguridad

Todos los graduados, invitados y miembros del personal deben usar cubrebocas de tela en todo momento. Para garantizar la salud y la seguridad de los demás, nuestros graduados se sentarán a seis pies de distancia entre sí.  Si los graduados tienen dos invitados, se les permitirá sentarse juntos en pareja a seis pies de distancia de otras personas en el estadio. Nuestros graduados también estarán sentados a seis pies de distancia entre sí en el campo. Pedimos que no haya aglomeraciones de personas, ni abrazos ni saludos de mano.

Las estaciones de higienización de manos estarán ubicadas en todo el estadio. No se servirá comida durante la ceremonia. Los graduados y sus invitados pueden traer sus propias botellas de agua al estadio.

Graduados

Les solicitamos a los graduados presentarse una hora antes de la ceremonia. Los estudiantes deben llevar puestos sus birretes, togas y cubrebocas de tela para poder ingresar al estadio. El personal de la escuela estará disponible para ayudar a los estudiantes a hacer fila para la procesión de entrada.

Para proteger la grama artificial del campo, les pedimos a los graduados que no se pongan zapatos de tacones altos.

Si no ha alquilado su toga y birrete, Herff Jones estará allí haciendo alquileres de un dia, aceptaran efectivo y tarjeta. 

Graduados, entregarán su toga y birrete inmediatamente después de la ceremonia, así que tomen fotografías antes de la ceremonia.

Boletos de entrada

Debido a las normas de distanciamiento social, debemos limitar el número de invitados que pueden asistir a la ceremonia. Cada estudiante tiene derecho a [2 ] invitados que podrán asistir en persona a la ceremonia. Los invitados pueden descargar los boletos a un dispositivo móvil, imprimirlos en casa o recogerlos en la cabina de llamadas (call booth) del estadio. Los invitados deben presentar un boleto para poder ingresar al estadio y solo podrán usar la entrada de invitados.

Les pedimos a los invitados no traer grandes arreglos de globos ni cosas que puedan obstruir la vista de las demás personas.

Estacionamiento

Habrá estacionamiento disponible en el Estadio de APS, en Hinkley High School, en East Middle School y en las calles laterales que rodean el estadio. Por favor, no se estacionen en el estacionamiento de la Iglesia El Calvario (Calvary Church), el cual está ubicado al otro lado de la calle del estadio.

Servicios de interpretación

En la ceremonia se ofrecerá el servicio de interpretación. Los invitados que necesiten este servicio deberán llevar un teléfono móvil con auriculares para escuchar la ceremonia en su propio idioma. Habrá carteles en el estadio con instrucciones detalladas sobre cómo acceder a los servicios de interpretación.

Transmisión en vivo

Sabemos que los familiares y amigos querrán unirse a la celebración de los estudiantes, por lo que hemos contratado una empresa profesional de video para grabar y transmitir cada ceremonia. Para ver la transmisión en vivo de la ceremonia de graduación, visite el sitio: aurorak12.org/graduations.
