IB Diploma Program General Regulations
The International Baccalaureate Programme offered at Gateway High School is part of a rigorous worldwide, college preparatory high school curriculum and examination program. IB programmes focus on international perspectives of learning and teaching, while insisting that students fully explore their home culture and language. The core components of IB programmes encourage students to participate in creative and service-oriented activities, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of reflection on a personal and academic level.
Students who are successful in the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) and IB Diploma Program demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, both in terms of mastery of subject content and in the development of communication skills in reading, writing, and oral speaking, and in analytical skills in all disciplines necessary for success at the university level and in a competitive world.
Ninthgrade students who enter Gateway High School have the opportunity to be part of the Middle Years Program (MYP), based on the recommendation of their 8th grade teachers. The MYP program is challenging, academically rigorous and is designed to prepare students to be successful in the IB Diploma Program during their last two years of high school.
