Why do I need to take the Accuplacer?

The Accuplacer measures students' skill-levels in English and Math to determine course placement.

New CCA students will need to take a placement test to enroll into classes, unless previous college coursework or sufficient test scores (that are less than 5-years old) have been submitted.

The Accuplacer is an untimed computer-based test that usually takes students about 1-hour to complete per section.

The test includes:

  • English
    • Reading Comprehension
    • Sentence Skills
  • Mathematics
    • Elementary Algebra
    • Based on your Elementary Algebra score, you may need to take one of the following additional section: Arithmetic or College Level Math
